  • 2 cups rolled oats Use gluten-free oats if desired.
  • 1 cup steel-cut oats Provides a chewier texture.
  • 2 cups milk (or non-dairy alternative) Substitute with non-dairy milk as needed.
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar Can be reduced or replaced with a sugar substitute.
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Fruits and Nuts
  • 3 apples, peeled and chopped Choose your preferred type of apple.
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (e.g., walnuts or pecans) Optional for added texture.
  • 2 eggs (optional, for added protein and richness) Can be omitted for a vegan version.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine rolled oats, steel-cut oats, milk, brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix well.
  3. Fold in the chopped apples and nuts.
  4. Pour the mixture into a greased 9-inch square baking dish.
  5. If using, beat the eggs in a separate bowl and pour over the oat mixture.
  6. Cover and let it sit overnight in the refrigerator.
Baking
  1. In the morning, uncover and bake for 45 to 50 minutes, or until golden and set.
  2. Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm!

Notes

Store baked oatmeal in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4-5 days. Reheat portions in the microwave or oven.
