Preparation
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 3-quart baking dish.
- In the greased dish, layer the sourdough bread cubes evenly.
- In a skillet, sauté asparagus over medium heat until tender, about 5-7 minutes.
- Sprinkle the asparagus and cheese over the bread layer.
- In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Pour this mixture over the bread and asparagus.
- Press down gently to soak the bread. Cover and refrigerate for at least 6 hours or overnight.
Baking
- Bake uncovered for 45 to 50 minutes, until puffed and golden. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Store cooled strata in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. Reheat single portions in the microwave or oven. For meal prep, assemble up to 24 hours in advance.
