Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Roll out the crescent rolls on a baking sheet to form a large rectangle.
- In a bowl, mix the boudin sausage (removed from casing) and shredded cheese.
- Spread the sausage and cheese mixture in a line down the center of the crescent roll rectangle.
- Fold the sides of the crescent rolls over the filling to create a 'cake' shape.
- Beat the egg and brush it over the top of the cake.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
- If desired, decorate the top with colored sprinkles to celebrate Mardi Gras.
- Allow to cool slightly before slicing and serving.
Notes
Serve warm for the best flavor. This dish pairs well with small bowls of mustard, hot sauce, or a mayo-based dip on the side. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 1 month.
