Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Brown the sausage in a skillet over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain any excess fat.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and dried mustard (if using).
- Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Layer the sliced bread in the dish, followed by the cooked sausage, vegetables, and cheese.
- Pour the egg mixture evenly over the layers.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 8 hours or overnight.
Baking
- Bake uncovered for 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until the casserole is set and golden brown.
- Let it cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. Can freeze for up to 2 months. For freezing, cool the casserole fully, then cut into serving-size pieces and wrap them well.
