Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Butter your light-colored 9-inch round cake pan and line it with parchment paper.
- In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until creamy.
- Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Fold the remaining chocolate chips into the cookie dough gently.
Baking
- Spread the cookie mixture evenly into the prepared cake pan and press down firmly.
- Sprinkle the reserved chocolate chips on top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 19 to 22 minutes until the edges are set and golden brown and the center is slightly underbaked.
- Let the cake cool completely before serving.
