  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 2/3 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
Chocolate Chips
  • 3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips, divided Set aside 2 tablespoons for topping.

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Butter your light-colored 9-inch round cake pan and line it with parchment paper.
  3. In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, beat together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until creamy.
  5. Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until smooth.
  6. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
  7. Fold the remaining chocolate chips into the cookie dough gently.
Baking
  1. Spread the cookie mixture evenly into the prepared cake pan and press down firmly.
  2. Sprinkle the reserved chocolate chips on top.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for about 19 to 22 minutes until the edges are set and golden brown and the center is slightly underbaked.
  4. Let the cake cool completely before serving.

Notes

For serving, it pairs well with whipped cream, ice cream, or a drizzle of chocolate or caramel sauce. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
