Preparation
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Line a 9 by 13-inch pan with aluminum foil.
- Place one layer of saltines in the pan and set aside.
Cooking
- Combine butter and brown sugar in a saucepan. Bring to a rolling boil and cook for 3 minutes while stirring.
- Pour the toffee mixture over the crackers and bake in the oven for 7 minutes.
- Remove pan from oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate over the hot cracker base.
- Spread the melting chocolate like icing and add any desired toppings.
- Refrigerate to cool, then break into pieces and enjoy.
Notes
Serve on a festive plate or in gift boxes. Can be stored for two weeks at room temperature and can be frozen for longer preservation.
