Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt Adjust if using salted butter.
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed light-brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
Chocolate Chips
  • 2 cups semisweet and/or milk chocolate chips

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
  2. In a small bowl, mix the flour and baking soda; set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, using an electric mixer, beat the butter and sugars on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes.
  4. Add salt, vanilla, and eggs; beat until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Stir in the chocolate chips.
Baking
  1. Drop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto baking sheets lined with parchment paper, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  2. Bake until the edges are golden but the centers are soft, about 10-12 minutes.
  3. Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. Freeze cookies for longer storage, up to three months.
