Ingredients
  

For the Cookie Mix
  • 1⅔ cups all-purpose flour spooned into the measuring cup and leveled
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1⅓ cups M&M's and/or chocolate chips see note
  • cup light brown sugar firmly packed
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 quart Mason jar
For Baking the Cookies
  • ½ cup softened butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method
 

Assembling the Jars
  1. Layer the Ingredients: Start with the flour. Spoon it into the jar and level it off. Next, add the baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Make sure to pack them down a bit.
  2. After that, add the brown sugar. Pack it firmly in the jar. Then, layer in the granulated sugar.
  3. Finally, top it all off with the M&M's or chocolate chips. Try to make the layers look pretty!
  4. Seal the Jar: Once all the ingredients are in the jar, put the lid on tightly.
  5. Add a Recipe Note: Print a note that includes the baking instructions. You can attach this to the jar with a ribbon or place it inside the jar before sealing it.
Baking the Cookies
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix the contents of the jar with softened butter, egg, and vanilla extract.
  3. Combine until mixed well.
  4. Drop spoonfuls of the dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  5. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges look golden.
  6. Let cool and enjoy!

Notes

To serve, enjoy the cookies warm with milk or coffee. Freeze baked cookies in an airtight container for up to 3 months.
