Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour plus 2 Tablespoons
  • 1 Tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Sugars
  • 1/2 cup dark brown sugar firmly packed
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar firmly packed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
Mix-ins
  • 1 to 1 1/2 cups mix-ins (like M&Ms, chocolate chips) choose your favorite
Wet Ingredients
  • 12 Tablespoons unsalted butter melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, add the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Use a whisk to mix them well.
  2. Spoon the flour mixture into the bottom of your mason jar. Pack it down gently.
  3. Add the dark brown sugar over the flour layer and pack it down gently. Repeat with light brown sugar and then granulated sugar.
  4. Add your chosen mix-ins on top and fill the jar tightly.
  5. Close the jar tightly and optionally attach a small tag with baking instructions.
Baking
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, stir together the cooled melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  3. Add all the jar ingredients to the bowl. Mix well until everything is combined.
  4. Drop rounded tablespoon-sized scoops of the dough onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  5. Bake for 9-11 minutes until the edges are light golden brown.
  6. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack or plate.

Notes

Store leftover cookies in an airtight container for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze in a freezer-safe bag for up to three months.
