Preparation
- In a medium saucepan, stir together the brown sugar, chocolate chips, evaporated milk, butter, and salt. Mix well until all the ingredients are combined.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat. Bring the mixture to a light boil while stirring constantly with a spatula or whisk.
- Once it starts to boil, let it simmer for about 1 minute, whisking constantly to keep the sauce smooth.
- After simmering, remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Allow the sauce to cool for about 10 minutes, thickening slightly as it cools.
Storage
- If you have leftovers, store them in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks. It can be reheated slightly before serving.
- To freeze, pour the sauce into a freezer-safe container, leaving some space for expansion, and freeze for up to 3 months.
Notes
You can enhance the fudge sauce with whipped cream, nuts, or caramel sauce. This sauce can be made ahead of time and reheated when needed.
