Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (or white sugar)
  • 12 oz bittersweet chocolate chips
  • 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cut into 1 Tbsp pieces
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

Method

Preparation
  1. In a medium saucepan, stir together the brown sugar, chocolate chips, evaporated milk, butter, and salt. Mix well until all the ingredients are combined.
  2. Place the saucepan over medium heat. Bring the mixture to a light boil while stirring constantly with a spatula or whisk.
  3. Once it starts to boil, let it simmer for about 1 minute, whisking constantly to keep the sauce smooth.
  4. After simmering, remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Allow the sauce to cool for about 10 minutes, thickening slightly as it cools.
Storage
  1. If you have leftovers, store them in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks. It can be reheated slightly before serving.
  2. To freeze, pour the sauce into a freezer-safe container, leaving some space for expansion, and freeze for up to 3 months.

Notes

You can enhance the fudge sauce with whipped cream, nuts, or caramel sauce. This sauce can be made ahead of time and reheated when needed.
