- In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine water and sugar, stirring to mix. Cook for 3-4 minutes until sugar dissolves.
- Mash strawberries in a small bowl and add them to the sugar syrup. Simmer on low heat for 7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove the pan from heat and let the sauce cool.
- In a medium mixing bowl, add vanilla extract and powdered sugar.
- Pour the cooled strawberry sauce into the bowl and stir until well combined.
Notes
Serve this glaze warm or at room temperature. It can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Stir before use, and add water if it thickens too much. Freeze any leftover cooked strawberry sauce for up to 3 months before mixing with powdered sugar.
