Ingredients
  

Cupcake Batter
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour Sifted for smooth mixing.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cups unsalted butter Softened to room temperature.
  • 2 large eggs At room temperature.
  • 1 cup milk Room temperature.
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Use good quality for flavor.
  • as needed drops Food coloring (blue and pink) Add gradually to achieve desired colors.
Toppings
  • to taste Frosting of choice Keep it neutral to maintain surprise.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with liners.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla.
  4. In another bowl, combine the flour and baking powder. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, and mix until smooth.
  5. Divide the batter into two bowls. Add blue food coloring to one and pink to the other until desired colors are achieved.
  6. Spoon a layer of one color batter into each cupcake liner followed by a layer of the other color, stirring slightly to create a marbled effect.
Baking
  1. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  2. Let the cupcakes cool completely before frosting.
Serving
  1. Decorate with frosting of choice and serve at the gender reveal party.

Notes

Store frosted cupcakes in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. For longer storage, freeze the cupcake cores or whole unfrosted cupcakes for up to 3 months.
