Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with liners.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla.
- In another bowl, combine the flour and baking powder. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, and mix until smooth.
- Divide the batter into two bowls. Add blue food coloring to one and pink to the other until desired colors are achieved.
- Spoon a layer of one color batter into each cupcake liner followed by a layer of the other color, stirring slightly to create a marbled effect.
Baking
- Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the cupcakes cool completely before frosting.
Serving
- Decorate with frosting of choice and serve at the gender reveal party.
Notes
Store frosted cupcakes in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. For longer storage, freeze the cupcake cores or whole unfrosted cupcakes for up to 3 months.
