Bread and Toppings
  • 1 loaf baguette or ciabatta loaf
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, diced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil For brushing on bread

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Slice the baguette or ciabatta into thick slices and use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out heart shapes.
  3. Place the heart-shaped bread on a baking sheet and brush with olive oil.
Cooking
  1. Bake for 5-7 minutes or until golden and crispy.
  2. In a bowl, combine diced tomatoes, garlic, basil, balsamic vinegar, salt, and pepper.
Assembly
  1. Spoon the tomato mixture onto the toasted bread hearts.
  2. Drizzle with balsamic glaze if desired.
