Preparation
- Peel and core the apples, then chop them into small chunks.
- Add the apples, lemon juice, water, and sugar to a large saucepan and bring to a boil.
- Reduce to a simmer and cook for 15 minutes, stirring as needed.
- Add the cinnamon and nutmeg, and cook for an additional 10 minutes or until the apples are super soft.
- Use a potato masher or an immersion blender to reach your desired consistency; leave some chunks if desired.
Notes
Cool the sauce before storing in airtight containers. Can be refrigerated for 5-7 days or frozen for up to 6 months.
