Method
Prepare the Tater Tot Cups
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Spray or brush the muffin tin with cooking spray or olive oil.
- Press frozen tater tots into each muffin cup to form a cup shape.
- Place muffin tin on a baking sheet and bake for 20 to 25 minutes until golden and crisp.
- Let cool for a few minutes before removing from muffin tin.
Make the Bravas Sauce
- Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Add chopped onion and cook until soft and translucent.
- Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
- Stir in smoked paprika and cayenne pepper, then add tomato puree and roasted red peppers.
- Add sugar and sherry vinegar, simmer on low for 8 to 10 minutes.
- Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper as needed.
Assemble the Loaded Tots
- Spoon bravas sauce into each tater tot cup.
- Sprinkle shredded cheese on top, and add crumbled bacon if desired.
- Return to oven and bake for 3 to 6 minutes until cheese melts.
Garnish and Serve
- Top each tot with a dollop of sour cream and sprinkle with chopped parsley or chives.
- Serve warm on a platter with extra bravas sauce on the side.
Notes
These tots can be customized with various toppings and sauces. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 2-3 days. Reheat in the oven to maintain crispness.
