Ingredients
  

For the dough
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cake flour
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp red food coloring
For the filling
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
For the cream cheese frosting
  • 4 oz cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, cake flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, sugar, melted butter, egg, vanilla extract, and red food coloring.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture. Stir until a soft dough forms.
  5. Place the dough on a floured surface and roll it out into a large rectangle.
  6. Brush the rolled dough with melted butter, then sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon evenly over the top.
  7. Starting from one side, gently roll the dough into a tight log.
  8. Cut the log into individual rolls, about 1-2 inches thick, and place in a greased baking dish.
  9. Cover the baking dish with plastic wrap or a clean kitchen towel and let the rolls rise for about 30 minutes.
  10. Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until they are golden brown.
  11. While the rolls are baking, prepare the cream cheese frosting by beating cream cheese and butter until creamy, then mix in powdered sugar and vanilla extract.
  12. Once the rolls are done baking, let them cool for a few minutes, then frost with cream cheese frosting.

Notes

Store leftover Red Velvet Cinnamon Rolls in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, or freeze for up to 2 months.
